The Kirby family, founders of Village Roadshow, opened their first cinema as a drive-in in Croydon, setting the stage for a pioneering legacy in Australia. Soon after establishing and expanding the cinema business Village Roadshow expanded its operations into film distribution, becoming Australia's leading independent film distributor.
In the 1980s and 1990s Village Roadshow established its Queensland theme park operations and is now Australia’s largest theme park operator, home of Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild, Topgolf, Paradise Country, Australian Outback Spectacular and Sea World Resort & Water Park.
Today, Village Roadshow is a leading entertainment company with over 4,500 employees and businesses in Theme Parks, Cinemas and Intencity (‘Village Entertainment’), Accommodation, Film and DVD Distribution, TV Production, Film Studios and Marketing Solutions.
